3.15 New Learning Times
The New Learning Times
(NLT) was a library publishing project that highlighted new ideas for
the transformation of the Education Sector early in the twenty-first
century. NLT was the first library publishing project designed for
mobile devices, and it allowed the library to experiment with new forms
of publishing. NLT featured content illustrating future possibilities in
education that promised to make learning more accessible, more
powerful, and less costly. NLT began publishing in October 2012 and
continued publishing daily through September 2019. During the seven
years of operation, NLT involved students in all departments of Teachers
College as well as other schools of Columbia University. The final front page of NLT has been archived for posterity and can be found on Pocketknowledge.
NLT was one of the outcomes of the Adaptive Learning Opportunities Design Event sponsored by the Hewlett Foundation and the Teachers College Office of the President.
