Melanie is a Publishing and Content Creation Associate at EdLab. She recently graduated with an MA in International Educational Development from Teachers College, where her interdisciplinary interests led to an anthropological study of the use of communication technology for non-formal language and intercultural learning. She has been writing her whole life, but her interest in developing and leveraging educational technology to improve teaching and learning, particularly in the fields of literacy and language education, led her to write at EdLab. The work Melanie does at New Learning Times spotlighting organizations, synthesizing research, and reviewing products specifically for young learners is an important part of her quest to open doors to teachers, parents, and self-directed learners seeking inventive educational resources.
Prior to joining the EdLab Publishing Team, Melanie taught English and developed curriculum at an institute in Santiago, Chile and in an elementary school in Songkhla, Thailand. She hails from Portland, Oregon where the trees are magnificent but the bagels could be better.
