Ling Zhu is a Ph.D. student in Applied Statistics at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
His major research interests involve statistical modeling and various statistical learning methods. Before entering the Ph.D. program in Statistics, he received a master's degree in Economics at UCSB. While studying economics, he became interested in the quantitative analysis of real economic phenomena using statistical tools which inspired him to further pursue an education in statistics.
He is an active participant of research projects and weekly research seminars led by Dr. Yuedong Wang. Ling is also a committed member of student seminars, where he has given several presentations on popular machine learning methods. In addition, he has three years' experience as a teaching assistant of both lower and upper division courses.
In his spare time, Ling enjoys playing basketball and listening to classical music.
