Carmen James holds a PhD in Philosophy and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests include ethics in education, character education, habits of mind, teacher education, and the value of the arts and aesthetics in constructing dynamic and ethical learning environments. At the EdLab, Carmen is the resident expert on design thinking, and designs in-person and online courses and professional development opportunities directly about or inspired by design thinking. Carmen is also a writer for all EdLab publishing streams. Carmen graduated from Harvard University, where she studied Comparative Literature.
Carmen loves adventure and discovery, hiking and cycling, poetry and cooking. She is an outdoors person at heart who thrives in city environments.
