Education has been called the ongoing task of our lives, and it seems to me that writing and publishing can play an important role in this, even an enjoyable one, with the ability to bridge between worlds, and to capture a sense of immediacy on the page. Here at the library I’m closely involved with our publications New Learning Times and Teachers College Record as well as related initiatives, such as co-presenting earlier this year at the Library Publishing Forum in Vancouver.
Before starting at EdLab, I attended the Writing MFA program at Columbia, and before that I worked as a book editor, researcher, and publisher. An interest in the exchange of ideas, and in style, and in the kinds of communities this exchange requires and creates, has been my thread through the labyrinth. My work at EdLab has been particularly rewarding as we examine the latest developments in education through many and varied lenses. To be part of a dedicated team whose mission is to bring these findings to a wider audience amid their own journeys has been both inspiring and rewarding.
