Did anyone else feel insulted from the reality of American schooling when they took a look at one of the cover stories, on the use of corporal punishment, in the Times this weekend? I had no idea that it was still legal practice; and I was almost shocked to hear that more than 300,000 students a year experience it. It makes me wonder: What else am I missing?
