The Biden administration has waived patent protection rights for Covid vaccines on the grounds that it would increase production and spur global inoculation efforts.

After Netanyahu Fails to Form Gov’t, President Hands Mandate to Lapid


With Prime Minister Netanyahu having failed to form a government within the 28 day timeframe, Israel’s President has chosen Yair Lapid, leader of Yesh Atid, to attempt to do so instead. Lapid has stated his intention to form a national unity government composed of parties from left, right, and center. Naftali Bennet, leader of an alliance of right-wing parties, has called for a “broad emergency government” to prevent yet another election.

Tensions Rise Over Jersey as PM Deploys Armed Boats


A post-Brexit fishing dispute over the waters around the isle of Jersey has led to Prime Minister Boris Johnson deploying two Royal Navy vessels out of concern over a potential blockade by French fishing vessels and comments from a French minister that the isle’s electricity supply might be turned off over lack of access to fishing waters.
