Gov. Ducey orders Arizona bars, gyms and theaters closed again; large gatherings restricted
After essentially inviting a second wave of the coronavirus by opening businesses that health experts warned were a breeding ground for diseases, Arizona has again closed multiple kinds of public gathering spaces. This comes after Gov. Ducey suggested “personal responsibility” as a solution to a virus that currently infects 10 million people worldwide.

Protesters demand officer who plowed through crowd be fired
After a Detroit Police Department officer gunned his vehicle through a crowd of protesters, BLM activists are demanding justice. Based on available footage, the officer in question appeared to intentionally create the incident by maneuvering his vehicle into the crowd. After police leadership stood by the driver, calls for resignation were extended to the chief of police and the mayor.

Protests don’t appear to be driving coronavirus surge in Seattle area or elsewhere, researchers say
Despite fears to the contrary, experts’ predictions that protests wouldn’t spread COVID hold true. Much of this is due to rigorous mask culture for protesters - a double measure to protect from the virus and from police surveillance and retaliations - and due to the way crowds moved. Regardless of the evidence, there are public health officials looking to blame rises on the protests, despite epidemiologists’ warnings not to open bars or other such establishments while the number of infected is still growing.

No 10 accused of sowing confusion over Leicester lockdown
Both the Liberal Democrat and Labour parties are demanding that the sitting Johnson government provide more information on the lockdown issued for Leicester City. While all three major parties are in agreement on the lockdown, the opposition fears that the thus-far total bungling of the crisis will merely continue apace.

More than 8 percent of children living in group homes under the care of the state of Massachusetts have tested positive for COVID. In part this spread is due to crowding and underfunding, a fact which serves to accentuate the disproportionate effect this virus - and our nation’s lacking response - has had on the underprivileged and disadvantaged. Advocates for the children have also criticized the authorities for a lack of transparency in dealing with this crisis.
