Moment of Opportunity
"Insofar as the past is over and the future has not yet transpired, this midpoint is an open moment of possibility. Properly used, it becomes like the eye of a hurricane, a quiet place at the center of life, a free, unconditioned moment of opportunity." Ira Progoff (At a Journal Workshop, 1975)
We designed our upCREATION Experience for 2017.  With backlashes and political upheavals happening throughout the world  a new understanding of  leadership is essential to provide further guidance toward a better world.  As Progoff writes, now is an unconditional moment of opportunity to upcreate. Kelly as he writes about upcreation states one of the necessary elements bound within up creation is at the edge of chaos:  Optimal evolvability in a network or system is found at a point of criticality. Too much to one side, and the system seizes up in rigid order. Too much towards the other side, and the system collapses into chaos. The optimal zone is a narrow goldilocks band between the two phases of order and chaos, right on the edge of both. This sweet phase transition zone along the “edge of chaos” is the root of upcreation. Certainly with two cultures entangled in the midst of a major paradigm shift,  I find myself wanting and needing others to upcreate with. I feel the chaos in every move.  I long for my fragmented understandings to connect with other ideas, actions, and points of view. I have a deep abiding knowing that together we can take this moment of opportunity to forge our different perspectives into significant next steps while augmenting our individual practices and the work we each love doing. Augmenting our profession is not about getting more better. It demands stepping out of our current roles and looking from afar. It is a non-political, non-professional, non-positional exploration.  It is only when we take this time out of time, that we can come "back" to the present and augment our work. Take this moment of opportunity with us.
