Arts in Education and Empowerment Through the Ensemble with Shafik Bahou & David Deblinger

Ensemble Force CEO, David Deblinger teamed up with actor and Teachers College alum, Shafik Bahou to share the meta-cognitive and social-emotional benefits of arts in education at the EdLab seminar in April of 2014.

Check out the talk and the related discussion on on Vialogues.

Excerpts from the discussion

@11:38 Sappho: Memory: implicit and explicit. Is this related to how we form habits? When we are learning a new habit of skill we have to train ourselves. Once we've learned it, we don't have to think about it any more.

@27:36 jagnitti: The metabolism/lecture metaphor is really interesting. If something is already pre-processed (as in white bread or a lecture), it's not as beneficial for your body/mind.

@36:29 Katzvdp:"There is a lot that can be learned from theater."
