Open Source Software for Libraries
I am just passing on some resources from a conversation between Michael Rennick and Frank Webster on open source software for libraries. Frank has identified some sources of information on the various open source efforts currently underway. oss4lib.org provides a listing of on-going open source software projects to support library operations. UNESCO also hosts this site dedicated to tracking open source library efforts. Brett van Sande has assembled this list of resources and commentary on open source library efforts. These efforts and resources all seem worth consideration as we pursue our various projects and as we consider how things get integrated (or not) in the library cataloging system.
