How do we interpret the fact that I am the only one who has uploaded a picture? If our group will not participate in that way, can we really expect other people to be inclided to upload photos of themseleves on the upcoming SocialScholar system? I fear that the pictures work well on Friendster (and similar services) because without them people will have no chance of finding a potential date. I read in the Freakonomics book that members of online dating sites that did not provide a photo were at an extreme disadvantage in terms of obtaining dating offers from other members. The numbers seem to indicate that putting up an "unattractive" photo is a better strategy than not putting up a photo at all. All said, I would expect some of you to at least ask me out to coffee.
