Quality Education Prevents Child Labor
Child Labor is a violation of human rights law and perpetrators should be held accountable. There are many causes to child labor such poor quality education or lack thereof. Education can be one of the remedies to solving this. Students who drop out of school at early age are prone to all sorts of disadvantages. They are disadvantaged later in life because they lack basic numeracy and literacy skills to become active participants in society. This piece talks more about child labor, locations where it is most prevalent and how it can be prevented. Most child laborers are found in the Asia-Pacific region with almost 78 million or 9.3 percent, while sub-Saharan Africa has a high rate with 59 million or 21 percent. Victims of child labor works under terrible conditions. Children in child labor are exposed to malnutrition and unsafe environments, which affects them physically and mentally. One of the solutions to this problem is a quality education. If children receive quality education, it is seldom for them to drop out and fall victim to child labor.
