Education in a Post War Community
Education is universally regarded as one of the keys to success. However, for children in countries where war is rampant, survival rather than thinking of success through education, takes precedent. Most young people are left with less options to succeed and reach their full potential. This video highlights the work of Operation Blessing, a nonprofit based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Their work focuses on providing educational opportunities for young people who are still on the verge of recovering from the effects of a deadly civil war. Interestingly, the survival of these young people lies on their education. In this case, education is used as a tool to empower these them and to provide them with the resources to make them believe that their futures will be successful.
