Effects of Endowments on College Tuition
One of the primary sources of funds for universities is endowment. Endowments take all shapes and financial sizes; it is meant to help universities achieve their mission and make college more affordable. However, a recent increase in endowments
has yet to have an effect on tuition. Endowment money is essentially not benefiting the group it was made for: students. The top 10 schools with the largest endowment money sums up to be about $181.2 billion. Although these schools have large amounts of endowment, their tuition is about $5,000 more than schools that receive less endowment.
